What are the prerequisites for updating to Spector 360 Service Release 3 (SR3)?

You must first be running Spector 360 SR2 (version 6.1.1103) prior to the update to SR3. If you are running an earlier version of the software please contact Technical Support for additional information on the upgrade process.

When migrating, the database storage requirement in SR3 typically requires 3 times the disk space as required in SR2. Please ensure that you have ample disk space allocated before proceeding with the update. Note: Once the old databases are dropped one third of the allocated storage will be reclaimed. Additionally, if the full backup that is automatically performed during migration is deleted, another third of the allocated storage will be reclaimed essentially returning you to the storage levels you were at prior to the update.

Please consult the Spector 360 Deployment Guide for additional information on updating your version of Spector 360.

Our network does not have a Domain, can I install in a Windows Workgroup?

While Spector 360 was primarily designed for networks with a Windows Domain Controller, the software will also function properly in a Windows Workgroup environment. Please refer to the Spector 360 Deployment Guide for additional information.

Our network workstations are part of a Novell network, can we still install Spector 360?

Spector 360 will still function in a Novell Network environment as long as you have a TCP/IP network. Refer to the Network Configuration section of the Spector 360 Knowledge Base for an article on configuring 360 in a Novell network.

Are there any issues installing the Spector 360 Client recorder to Windows 98 or Windows ME workstations?

The Spector 360 Client recorder is no longer "officially" supported on the Windows 98 and Windows ME Operating Systems.

We have Windows XP Home computers on our Workgroup network, can the Spector Client be installed?

Windows XP Home does not provide the remote network management capabilities required to perform an installation across a network. For this reason, the Spector Client can not be installed to a XP Home computer on the network from the Spector 360 Control Center management console. An installation of the Spector Client can be accomplished by simply running the Client install file from the XP Home computer itself. Once the install file has been executed on the XP Home computer, that client can be remotely managed and viewed from the 360 Control Center.
